About Us

Our History

The Hussaini Association was established more than 40 years ago solely to commemorate the life of Imam Hussain (blessing be upon him), the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Hussaini Association has hosted the commemorative events held for the first ten days of the Islamic month of Muharram and has managed the Ashura Day demonstrations that have taken place in Central London since its establishment.

The vision is to establish Ashura Day as an international day in remembrance of the values recounted every year at our annual events.

Values of faith, purely, love, unity, peace, harmony and justice. Imam Hussain (pbuh) paid the ultimate sacrifice defending these values and we honour this sacrifice every year through our programmes.

In addition to our annual programmes The Hussaini Association has run seminars and events for the youth of the community instilling a sense of responsibility, respect and caring for those less fortunate.

A large part of our activities include all year round food and clothing banks which we distribute to the elderly and vulnerable.
